Foundation’s first affordable housing project outside Middleburg was made possible by generous local support and tax credit financing. The project comprises 7 two-bedroom and 9 three-bedroom units with two fully handicapped accessible. The 16 units are in five buildings and certified as “green” by EarthCraft Virginia

Dominion Virginia Power: Meters not going backwards - but going forward slowly - 300 kWh in July 2012 in one unit = $35 / month
Photo #5 is lower half of geothermal unit and photo #6 is upper half in ground floor closet. External air still periodically circulates inside units even when thermostat is in the "off" position.
Photo #7 sign located on Fauquier Avenue in The Plains south of Rt.50, post office, fire station #4, business / historical districts, and north of I66, Farmers Market, Seasonal Amazing Maze, and Wakefield School
Other energy efficient features include water saver bathrooms, Energy Star appliances, metal roofs, extra insulation in the attics / walls, covered porches and energy saving windows. Entrance to the attic is specially insulated along with internal water heater pipes (EarthCraft requirements)
Note: Water heaters noisily "blow" cold air periodically - great conversation ice breaker!
